ANRA Technologies has completed the first factory acceptance test (FAT-1) for a new Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system being developed for Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans) and Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP).
The system is designed to provide the digital infrastructure needed to safely manage Dubai’s growing drone ecosystem. It will enable authorities to approve drone flights, monitor real-time airspace activity, identify potential conflicts and coordinate operations with commercial UAS operators and other stakeholders.
A central feature will be an integrated digital airspace picture, combining radar, weather information, NOTAMs and live drone tracking into a unified operational view. The platform will also provide tools for flight approvals, dynamic airspace management, strategic conflict detection and emergency coordination.
The system is being designed with high-availability connectivity between aviation authorities, drone operators and cloud-based services, supporting coordinated operations across Dubai’s airspace.
ANRA said the architecture is also designed to evolve as Dubai’s unmanned aviation sector expands. Future capabilities could include counter-drone solutions, advanced analytics, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) operations and eventual integration with conventional Air Traffic Management (ATM).
The completion of FAT-1 follows preliminary training and represents an important milestone in the phased development of Dubai’s next-generation UTM platform.
The project is part of Dubai’s broader efforts to establish a connected and scalable drone ecosystem. By providing a common digital environment for flight approvals, surveillance, traffic coordination and conflict management, the UTM system could support the expansion of commercial drone operations across the emirate.
With drone delivery, inspection, logistics and future air mobility applications expected to grow, Dubai is positioning digital airspace infrastructure as a key component of its aviation strategy.
